Groping in halls: guilty over here. At least depending on one's definition of "grope". But only at hours during which I suspect Diane(or for that matter, most any sensible person) was asleep.
Mega-threads: When *you* are impaired by accumulated fatigue toxins, you quite sensibly go to bed. Some of us take advantage of fatigue-intoxication to get silly. Not to mention that the responsibilities of daily life make this sort of insanity more difficult to pull off during civilized hours.
If by "flirting" you mean, making googly-eyes and smiling shyly from across the room, then I could probably put up with an infinite amount of that.
My amused tolerance tends to decrease at an exponential rate as the flirting parties draw closer/get more deliberate in their interaction. At a certain point, I want to shout, "Fine, go have sex already!" And that's when I know it's time to leave the room (probably well prior to that, in fact, just to be safe). I certainly don't want to dump icewater on anyone.
(I am overstating my aversion a bit, just for the sake of illustration.)
If I had to guess, this probably stems from a long history of watching a lot of it going on, and not being able to participate successfully myself. Just a guess, though.
I'm pretty sure my definition is inclusive of your definition, and that there are many aspects of your definition that would, in fact, send me from the room.
I tend to call that stuff you're describing "courting", and while I usually find it cute and charming if it doesn't involve displaying flesh to innocent bystanders, I can see it getting fraught and aggravating after awhile.
As for flirtation, the wise married man flirts madly.

I don't believe in debauching at people

Date: 2003-11-06 04:53 am (UTC)Just beginning to sound like it's nothing but wall-to-wall debauchery.
You know, I'd stay locked in my hotel room all night, if I wanted to avoid it. That sort of thing.

i don't think your sister for instance was unduly debauched

Date: 2003-11-06 05:18 am (UTC)I tend to be of the stomach, myself, where enough flirting will send me zooming back to my room.
Any my sister... is for my sister to judge. Her level of squick and mine are set quite differently.

But then, I also never went into the fan lounge until the last night, when everybody was tired. So maybe I missed the serious debauchery.
But why do you guys always start these neat mega-threads after I've gone to bed?
