Okay, So Not Quite Yet
Sep. 29th, 2004 08:08 pmBut soon.
Travel delays with the military are, of course, inevitable. It looks, however, like we're trying to make a much more concrete (since it involves Airlift Command planes flying clear to the other side of the world) schedule for leaving Kuwait, and that schedule seems to be on track. We'll probably be in Kuwait for the proverbial blink of an eye.
Last night, from
fattred1: "It's like I've been hiding Anne Frank in the attic of my mind. [And she's screaming,] 'I don't like them!'" In reference, apparently, to some event food that everyone in his town treats as sacred. This particular peak in this particular conversation had me laughing quite a while. Not quite the but-gusting guffaws of driving the wrong way at 180mph in "NASCAR Thunder 2003," but that meaningful, appreciative laugh for some spot-on wit.
Oh, and
fattred1's brother: Don't read this entry. He says you'll send the Pendleton Secret Police after him.
All y'all who responded in the last thread, have no fear, I shall not strike thee from my rolls, nor look at thee crossly, or otherwise send away into the night to wail or gnash your teeth. Not that I could fathom that kind of reaction, but in this paragraph, I'm feeling Biblical. Sort of. The effect is probably ruined by starting it off with "All y'all." Okay, enough meta-commentary.
And now it's time to go drive backwards at 180mph.
