But soon.

Travel delays with the military are, of course, inevitable. It looks, however, like we're trying to make a much more concrete (since it involves Airlift Command planes flying clear to the other side of the world) schedule for leaving Kuwait, and that schedule seems to be on track. We'll probably be in Kuwait for the proverbial blink of an eye.

Last night, from [livejournal.com profile] fattred1: "It's like I've been hiding Anne Frank in the attic of my mind. [And she's screaming,] 'I don't like them!'" In reference, apparently, to some event food that everyone in his town treats as sacred. This particular peak in this particular conversation had me laughing quite a while. Not quite the but-gusting guffaws of driving the wrong way at 180mph in "NASCAR Thunder 2003," but that meaningful, appreciative laugh for some spot-on wit.

Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] fattred1's brother: Don't read this entry. He says you'll send the Pendleton Secret Police after him.

All y'all who responded in the last thread, have no fear, I shall not strike thee from my rolls, nor look at thee crossly, or otherwise send away into the night to wail or gnash your teeth. Not that I could fathom that kind of reaction, but in this paragraph, I'm feeling Biblical. Sort of. The effect is probably ruined by starting it off with "All y'all." Okay, enough meta-commentary.

And now it's time to go drive backwards at 180mph.

Boy, you sound cheerful. This is good. I'm glad you're having good stuff to laugh about. Wishing you well on getting home soon.

Ok... you're a big silly-head. And you're making me laugh uncontrollably in the middle of the work-day. People are going to look at me funny. Oh... wait... that's how they always look at me...

I think you're onto something, Dave...if the whole SF writing gig doesn't pan out, you might try Bible translation, The Redneck Version (g).

Ack! Was that lightning I just heard? :)

Hmmm... I'd probably consider Sanitation Engineer as a career before that, but... you may have something there.

I am disappointed in you and can not tolerate another disparaging remark about the local fair food.. I have hired a Special Forces group to come and get you. You might recognize them when they get there, maybe this sounds familiar...
"Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune.
If you have a problem - if no one else can help - and if you can find
them - maybe you can hire: The A-Team."

:)

Oh CRAP!!!

Don't you read The Onion? The A-Team have been acquitted, so of course they're out there serving the cause of freedom, where they're most needed.

Dare I ask why there is some Filipino guy hollering numbers in the background? Or are you just playing Bingo?

Well, I think he's Filipino. He's the guy monitoring the internet center and the numbers he was calling off were the numbers of the users whose time was up.

I hope I stay on yer list, too. (Yes, I'm late, ALWAYS late.) Do I get brownie points if I start leaving more snarky comments? =)

I dunno... depends on what you're being snarky about.
