[livejournal.com profile] elorie found a nifty link: Poor, White, and Pissed.

Fascinating, and true, stuff.

The past weekend was a bit hectic, what with the visiting family and buying major home appliances and getting them delivered and tiling the laundry room floor and finishing the cleaning out of the old apartment and participating in reams and reams of Katrina discussions and playing video games and such like. The appliance hook up went not as well as I had hoped, since the pipes for the washer appear to be arranged a little... awkwardly and the delivery folks informed me at the last moment that they don't hook up gas dryers.

Woot. Time for a service call from the gas company, since I trust myself just enough to know that I'm not quite sure I know what I'm doing.

In work news, I seem to keep working further from home more often. The mileage money is nice, but either I'm away from home for twelve or more hours to get in six or more hours of billable work... or I'm spending a slightly more reasonable amount of time away, and working only a couple of billable hours. Makes me fear for my sanity and my job, respectively.

Also, today we set a date for baby Tony's baptism, at the church we're going to be attending up in Sand Lake. Dates and details to be headed out to family and such in e-mail. [livejournal.com profile] shaws_ghoti is going to be Tony's godfather, which has confused the folks at the church since I don't think we're going to have a godmother, as such... But that's alright. [livejournal.com profile] tappu and I are digging both the church and the new neighborhood, since both seem small and close-knit enough for some homey comfort.

And, in other news, my living room is now dominate by various devices of entertainment and torture for an infant, namely a variety of bouncy seats, papasans, swings, and such. Looks like we're running a daycare in here...
