Day Job, et al.
Jan. 8th, 2005 01:09 amSo, I've officially been promoted to supervisor. I did get a pay raise for it, though unfortunately the pay for the position is set by the state, same as with the "regular" safety officer position, so the raise was only a buck an hour. Would have liked more, but maybe someday I can move up again. Right now I'm just a little worried about being too good at this job, my efficiency and rapport with the Vet's Home department being what got me promoted in the first place, and getting stuck there for a long time. I can see that happening, and so I need to protect against it.
I was going to start school at the local community college this semester, attending their police academy, but I put things off a little too long to get that going. In all earnestness, I had an excuse, since almost as soon as I got this job (and thus the pay that would guarantee I could go), I heard that the first shift supervisor's position was going to be available, so I wanted to wait to see if that happened before I made any schooling commitments... So now I'm kinda locked out, and waiting for the summer.
Sucks, but I can't complain. Two weeks ago, I had nothing.
