What is it about "It's a matter of public record" requires third-party endorsement? Seriously. If my salary is set by Congress, approved by the President, and freely available for perusal to anyone who asks, why do I need to have my CO sign off on it? It's not like I can't provide them proof that I'm a Marine, or of the pay grade that I say I am. Why does a military pay chart need a signature?

I'm in an alternate dimension, I swear.

Well, if they don't require a signature (which, how the hell do they know what your CO's signature looks like *anyway*?) they might have to -gasp- look it up themselves. And we can't have that.

Heh. Their criteria is "verifiable," which is a joke. You can pick up a phone and verify that I'm a Marine, that we're getting called up, and that I make X number of dollars per month on active duty, all in one phone call. What they want is for me to do their work for them.
