Spring Cleaning
May. 8th, 2011 08:38 pmSpent a good chunk of this weekend tidying up around the outside, the first nice weekend we’ve had a chance at it so far. The stuff in our garage is getting compacted more and more; I used to maintain quite a few shelves of stuff when I was an on-the-road consultant, but now we have a lot of shelves holding up not much stuff. We’ll be spending a few of these spring weekends cleaning up and compacting what we have, organizing it better and so on. There’s also a room in our house largely dedicated to stuff that we don’t have any idea what to do with. (Most Midwesterners I know use a basement for this, but we lack a real basement, and so we don’t have a lot of room to just… keep stuff.)
Also need to do something with our general landscaping, but Tarri and I are both kinda hopeless at that kind of thing, and right now we don’t have the funds to contract it out (and even if we did, we’d spend it on something more important). No real clue where to start, other than we want less flowerbed area than we have right now, no matter how much a flowerbed peninsula is supposed to add to the curb appeal of our house. It definitely seems like one of those things that you have to be into to do well, or even competently, and we are so not even close to that kind of interest.
Such is the adventure of home ownership, I do suppose. Looks like quite the house-oriented spring/summer for us… and it looks like we need to take advantage of these weekends while we’ve got ‘em.
