A Recommendation, And Thanks

Thanks to everyone who helped me out with the sports in SF/F post. I’ve got a ton of fodder for the panel now, thanks to you guys. The trick will be digging into it a little more in depth so I can do more than just mention it. But, I’m thinking I’ve got enough to give a two hour lecture on my own, much less just hold my own in a panel discussion.

So thanks again.

Out of that, of course, comes a short story recommendation. (Ha! Thought I’d forget about that, huh? Fat chance!) So, if you have twenty minutes, and you don’t mind reading about baseball and interstellar exploration and first contact, I suggest you hop over to the SciFiction archives and read Scott Westerfeld’s “Unsporstmanlike Conduct”

Outstanding story, and you don’t need to know baseball all that well (or, I suppose, like it) in order to enjoy the story. But, it does help.
