First, a call for submissions: Eric T. Reynolds and Hadley Rille Books are calling for subs to their Ruins Metropolis anthology. (via Steve Buchheit) This looks like a pretty cool one, and even though I have a couple of time sensitive projects, I’m thinking I’ll try to get something out for this one too. Recently, I saw someone saying that they vowed never to write to a theme, but you know? That’s the only sale I have so far. So what the hell. I’m all over this writing to a theme stuff.

Seconds, the Guardian online has a bit on Writers’ Rooms. I’m sure there’s more than just this one, but I like this from Sue Townsend–even though she never uses her computer. I wish I could still compose longhand, but I am so badly out of practice–and my writing was never terribly legible to begin with–that it’s actually far more painful to do that than to sit at a computer and type for hours.

Which is funny, because I started this writing thing in spare notebooks while in boring classes in high school. (Geometry was a personal favorite.) I’ve got half a dozen notebooks in a crate downstairs somewhere, but I may as well put them on display under glass like historical documents for all that any more will be joining them.

Anyway, I’d take pictures of my desk right now and post them, but… I think I’m going to wait until I have my ideal little setup in my new home office. As it turns out, my Dad came back over this weekend with the intention of doing a lot of the fine detail work on my rooms. I’d love to be done by December, though that might be a pipe dream. But still, littlest brother will be off of grad school for a month around then, and it might be nice for him to have an actual room to sleep in. Not that he’ll stop sleeping on the couch, as he does now, but it’ll be nice to give him the option at least.
