Infinite What?
May. 10th, 2006 09:40 pmAll both of you out there who read DC Comics (I'm lookin at you,
helaaspindakaas), can anyone explain WHAT THE FUCK happened with the Infinite Crisis garbage?
In my favorite titles, Green Arrow had just been stabbed twice through the chest and his family (not to mention city) blown to shit, and Batman had just watched The Joker blow up Jason Todd and himself. .... And then the very next issues were the "One Year Later" things, which offered exactly nothing in the way explanation.
So, I figured the Infinite Crisis line itself would have some kind of explanation.
No, not really. Unless Superboy destroying the tower thing caused all those Earths to collide back together and unmake those events--except that the Batman presented in IC seems to be the same, continuous Batman. And Bludhaven was still blown up, and the last Blue Beetle is still dead.
Oh, and speaking of which: I picked up the first two issues of Blue Beetle, and towards the end of the second one, it implies that the one year interval was some kind of magical or supernatural thing, experienced unawares by the heroes most closely involved in the Crisis. But then, at the end of IC #7, it turns out they just took a fucking vacation.
This was either some stunning and subtle genius, or a bunch of writers (led by Jud Winnick) taking a monster shit on the readers.
As of right now, not having read all nine thousand tie-in titles, I'm going to put my money on the latter.
