Boy, Am I Tired
Apr. 9th, 2004 07:27 pmLong day today.
Going back to the barracks after this to see if I got any mail, shower, and crash. With any luck, I'll get about ten hours of sleep before I have to get up in the morning. Won't that be awesome.
Boring day today. Really, I swear. F***ing boring. I imagine that pleases you all to no end, and, frankly, I'm not that all disappointed myself. Some people are, but I think they're idiots.
One really serious thing that I'd ask of everybody today is for prayers. Not for me, though they're welcome, and not for my fellow servicemembers, though again, welcome. But I'm thinking more about the civilians who work here, both American and Iraqi. The Iraqis, I think, face the toughest time, and they've been breaking my heart lately, bringing word about getting threatened by "Ali Baba" as they call the criminals and insurgents. Those guys are really, really, really in danger of their lives for no other reason than trying to feed their families. And they don't get body armor, they can't bring weapons to work, they don't travel in armored convoys. So... I'll be praying for them, and those of you who do, I'd ask you to join me.
On a lighter note... I'm tired. My wife made contact with my old Russian professor at church last night, and so I'm back in contact with her and her husband, my old Russian history professor. Hopefully I've got more mail today, but the convoys have been kinda dicey. Thanks,
meerkat1 for the package... y'all are going to make me fat. Fat fat fat.
Had some guy in the chow hall today look at my plate of fish and mashed potatoes and say, "Hey man, you need some more chow! Gotta bulk up!" I looked at him like he was nuts. Then again, with the prodigous girth of some of these Army dudes I've seen, maybe he does think I'm really skinny. Dunno what he'd make of
fattred1 who's been known to blow away in a stiff breeze.
Anyway, that's it. I'm going to bed. Laters, all.
