For Real, Though

Finished my short story tonight. I kinda hate it, I think. I definitely needed to get it out of my head, but it's easily everything I suck at with the short form.

Anyway, I'm going to revise it Friday, and then I'm looking for volunteers to read it and tell me what you think, in good and constructive ways. I would ordinarily post it to OWW, but my membership expired last Friday, and I don't really want to resubscribe if I'm going to be going away. Really, I just want to know if it works as a short story, and if it doesn't, why you think not.

Final word count was 5,881, in 26 pages. Not a very long story at all, really. Just felt that way.

I am so not cut out for these things.

I'd be happy to read it, and it will be the first work of your I've read.

Thaaaaaat's what makes me nervous. I'd hate for you to come away with a crappy perception of my writing ability. ;)

Well, if you want to send me something else of yours to read first, I'd be happy to innoculate myself too.

*raises a hand*

I'd love to read it, if you don't mind. I'll even try to be constructive and not read for pleasure.

And I'd be willing to bet it's nowhere near as bad as you think it will be.
